You can do as much or as little as you want during your alpaca farm vacation. You can do morning and/or evening chores or neither. Chores can include anything from feeding the alpacas and other animals, working in the garden, repairing fencing, or taking care of the greenhouse. To reserve your farm vacation, call 719-783-9619 or e-mail Meredith@SnugglyToes.com.
Alpaca farm vacations are one week long. Check in is after 4 p.m. Saturday. The animals will be eagerly waiting to meet you. Owner Meredith O'Neil will show you around and then let you settle in. A one week alpaca farm vacation at Springtime Farms costs $800. A 40% deposit is required. Cancellations must be made three weeks in advance, or the deposit is forfeit, unless another booking is made.
Sunday starts with a homemade breakfast by Meredith. Roll up your sleeves or sit back and relax while she makes homemade bread. Then enjoy the bread with homemade jam. If the chickens are cooperating, farm fresh eggs might be on the menu for the first morning during your farm vacation.
She'll then give you a tour of the farm, showing you how to do the chores. Sundays can be rounded out with a few fiber lessons. Do you want to see how to make roving or spin the fiber? It’ll be on the agenda. Meredith will even give you some basics about crochet….enough to make a scarf during your vacation. Just bring some yarn to your alpaca farm vacation. Meredith often has yarn to sell, but beginners probably want to start with something store bought. There are plenty of crochet hooks at the farm.
The rest of the week is up to you. Choose what you'd like to do on the farm, and Meredith will do the rest. She will be at the farm (but not in the house) for the rest of your week.
The farm has the basics like flour, sugar, spices, and other baking ingredients, and, of course, pots, pans, dishes and silverware. But, Sunday breakfast is the only meal provided. There is a lovely little grocery store in town. Check-out is by 11 a.m. the next Saturday.
Alpaca Farm Vacations are about the simple life. If you're looking for a relaxing, peaceful, gentle vacation, this is for you. If you're looking for a super luxurious vacation, this is not the place for you.

Springtime Farms offers a two-bedroom, one bathroom (tub and shower) house for alpaca farm vacations. One bedroom has a full-size bed, the other two twin beds. The open kitchen/living area gives you plenty of room for family time. The house is 16 miles from the small town of Westcliffe, CO. The nearest neighbor is a mile away. Most of the driving is on a paved stated highway. Only a mile is on a dirt road (a big plus in the country).
There is a stunning view!
The house is off-grid also giving you the experience of eco-living. It also means conversation is a plus. The solar system is sufficient but not over the top. Leaving lights on all day is not a great idea. There is a back-up gas generator, however. Recycling is encouraged. Meredith will deposit the recycling and the trash (no curbside pick-up here).
Springtime Farms is about having it all, but it is not about having everything. There's a washer and dryer, but line drying is encouraged. There is a television with DVDs, but no television stations. There is no dishwasher or microwave. There are books, magazines, cards and a few board games. There is an abundance of space and quiet. You can expect to hear the alpacas hum, the birds chirp, and the goats chit chat. But, you can also expect to hear the guard dogs bark and the rooster crow (yes, sometimes in the middle of the night).
There are plenty of other things to do around Westcliffe during your farm vacation. Mission:Wolf, an amazing wolf sanctuary, is “close” by. There is hiking galore in the Sangres for everyone from beginners to experts. Our little downtown area has some beautiful shops, quite a few restaurants and an ice cream parlor. The Jones Theater has many live shows and a few movies planned for the summer. Lake DeWeese offers a cool respite. There’s also fishing and horseback riding.
